The story takes place on the 20th of July, 1969 where humans' greatest achievement has finally realized, the Apollo 11 mission to Moon. It was not just a simple discovery of the moon itself but a confirmation that we are not alone.
The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach and learn its secrets, could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.
