WHAT WAS THEN?
"Superman: The Movie" starring Christopher Reeves |
Who would ever thought that Superman would return after years of waiting to be back on the big screen. I'm not fond of reading comic books but Superman really made my childhood years full of imagination. After watching "Superman: The Movie" starring the legendary Christopher Reeves, my ultimate dream was to be like Superman. A man that is bulletproof, laser eyes and can fly faster than a speeding bullet.
2006 remake, "Superman Returns" starring Brandon Routh |
On 2006, a remake entitled "Superman Returns" starring Brandon Routh made to the big screen but the reviews turned into a super lame movie due to the old approach (comic-like) and the acting was not that as to the characters in the story.
WHAT IS NOW..
2013, Superman returned like it was never been seen before. A new look, new actors, new director, new suit, and a new story; a deeper and much real-like story.
The director of the Batman remake Dark Knight -- Zack Snyder once again laid his cards for the remake of another Superman movie -- Man of Steel.
Man of Steel: June 12, 2013 (Philippines) |
I watched this movie just this afternoon and still planning to watch it again later next week. "Man of Steel" was not like as if it was the old Superman, he was really the --Man of Steel--. I am not just talking about the fight scenes or even the special effects, what I mean is the story of a man that is finding oneself out of the clueless world. Living himself as an ordinary human out of super powers but fate seem to test him at times.
"Man of Steel" starring Henry Cavill |
The actors were on their characters. Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) and Martha Kent (Diane Lane) gave a wonderful chemistry as Clark Kent's (Henry Cavill) parents (on Earth). While Jor-El (Russell Crowe) made a realistic appearance compared to previous Superman movies which mostly done by voice. Lois Lane (Amy Adams) on the other hand has a stronger character but their love and romance with Superman is kinda forced on the movie. There was still no connection -- maybe on the sequel they will..
General Zod (Michael Shannon) was like a monster!! I don't know why I always love the antagonist on the film. General Zod was thirsty for a new Planet Krypton. His character was sinister-like and a deep one (I wonder if Michael Shannon is really like General Zod).
The fighting scenes were superb, except on how General Zod died. It was like trying to extend the fighting scenes and the end was twisting Zod's neck then he's dead.
