Philippines is a nation of thriving people where rich culture exist deepen by its roots of history. Colonized by Spaniards, Japanese and the Americans; we were ruled by different types of governments yet even up today that our country gained its independence in 1898, one has not evendently conquered, POVERTY..
I wrote this blog because it's one of those big questions that keeps lingering in my mind for decades. Why the poor gets poorer? Why some people don't want poor to be rich? Why crab mentality is much contagious for most than of being an encouragement? Why the government or most politicians need the poor?
• Their Benchmark - Sad to say but its their benchmark on how they are effective as an LGU or public official. They can be of help but make sure they would always seek them for help.
• Their Backbone - Politicians need die-hard supporters. Its their machinery for their campaign during election period and greatest ally when they're being criticized by their opponents.
• Their Investment - Money is really the root of all evil if you use it for your own personal gain. Pretty familiar during elections aye! We can say that vote buying is already part of the "Filipino Culture" because majority of registered voters are from Class C downwards where P500 per vote is equivalent a week's meal for the family.
• Their Puppet - Being a public figure with a lot of supporters and allies, most politicians tend to see themselves as the center of the universe that people would follow them where ever they'll go, speak as how they speak and act as how they act even its just a facade.
Service is about paying forward without expecting in return. It's your own will to do something what is right and not of what you can gain. Service is strengthening your self-worth of how you are useful to others with the best of your abilities. You don't need to be a politician or to be part of an LGU to serve people. Be a game changer and scrape the pride inside you and replace it with humility, respect and sacrifice.
